Worrisome economic approached by CHINA

On May 11, China's stock market slipped into official bear market territory so quietly you'd think it was no big deal. The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.9%, putting it down 21% from its Nov. 23 high.
What's next? Predictions fall into two diametrically opposed camps.

There are the China bulls, like old China hand Mark Mobius of Templeton Asset Management, who see the bear market as a buying opportunity. Stocks in the Shanghai index now trade at 20.2 times the trailing 12-month earnings. That's cheap compared with a 49.5 price-to-earnings ratio for the market at the October 2007 high.

And there are the China bears such as GloomBoomDoom.com Publisher Marc Faber, hedge fund manager and short-seller Jim Chanos and Harvard economist Ken Rogoff, who are all expecting China to crash in the next six to 18 months.

Why the extremes of opinion?
Because China is trying to execute a maneuver that almost no country or central bank ever gets right. Beijing is trying to:
* Slow its economy, which grew at an annual rate of 11.9% in the first quarter of 2010.
* Control inflation, which grew at a 2.8% annual rate in April and threatens to run out of control.
* Deflate a bubble in assets such as real estate, which saw prices grow at a record 12.8% annualized rate in April.
All of that without crashing its economy or its financial markets.
The Federal Reserve hasn't been able to pull off this kind of move. The European Central Bank doesn't even try. So why, the bears ask, with good reason, should we think that China can?
 
Because, say the bulls, China is different. Its state-controlled economy gives the government and the People's Bank of China vastly more control than any government or central bank has in the more-free-market economies of the developed world. And that will let the government thread the narrow path between slowdown and bust.


My opinion? It's not only too early to tell whether Beijing can deflate its bubble without crashing China's economy, but we're only just entering the really, really dangerous period when Beijing could actually make a mistake big enough to cause a crash. A crash in China's controlled economy and financial markets wouldn't be anything like a crash in the United States, of course. A company or an entire industry in China is bankrupt only when the government says it's bankrupt. But even a controlled China-style crash would be very painful for investors.

I think the trend in China's stock markets is still downward, even if the bulls prove ultimately correct, as the Chinese government tries another round of fixes. In my opinion, investors will get a buying opportunity in China this year at prices below current levels, even if China doesn't crash (whatever "crash" means in the Chinese financial system). I'm advising building some cash so you'll be ready to take advantage of that opportunity but keeping that pot of China cash on the sidelines until you see how the story comes out over the next few months.

Hitting the brakes -- and failing


Here's what we know about this bear market so far:
The story to date is pretty straightforward. Chinese financial markets and China's economy have been bending gradually under pressure as the Beijing government tries to fight inflation and slow real-estate and stock market speculation without tanking the market or the economy. The steps to date have been frequent but small. For example, the People's Bank has raised reserve requirements three times this year, most recently May 3. Banks in China are now required to keep on reserve cash equal to 17% of their loans.

Add to that restrictions on second and third mortgages, limits on how many houses a family can buy, warnings to banks about uncollateralized loans, lower lending quotas and higher yields on money banks leave on deposit with the central bank and you've got an impressive series of measured steps to slow lending, speculation and the economy.

Trouble is, these measured steps don't look like they've had much effect. China's rate of increase in real-estate prices in April was its highest on record. Overseas money continues to flood into China as investors and speculators bet on continued fast growth in the Chinese economy and a revaluation of the renminbi. Foreign direct investment rose in April for the ninth month in a row at a 25% annual rate. Bank lending slowed, but banks still extended $110 billion in new loans in April. That, if continued, would put bank lending on a path to $1.3 trillion for 2010. That's disappointingly close to the record $1.4 trillion in new loans in 2009 that the government had vowed to reduce. - Jim Jubak worrisome

As broke college grads both my girlfriend and I live with our parents. It's about 10pm, we're hanging out together on the futon in her mom's basement watching whichever movie on tv. ari sabtu bermula ngan tak best nyer..umah aku blackout plak pagi tuh..pergh..tak ley blah langsung...aper lagi, aku mulakan langkah ngan gi ke klas drum aku...memang aku blaja samapi kul 4 laaa jawab nyer...balik ke gelang patah..kurt dah sampai dah kat E&Y..melepak sambil mengeteh...balik umah..aku n kurt memulakan laa sesi jamming kitaorg...sampai kul 8 gak laa kiter jam..tuka² blaja lagu baru...pastu gi makan kat mutiara rini..kedai cina islam..bole tahan laa banyak dia bagi..nih sume idea kurt..bedal laa aper lagi...pas makan..kitaorg gerak balik ofis aku..kurt nak tgk live band...huh..bukan stakat live band jer...aku siap bawak dia jejalan lagi nek boat...skali lagi mintak tolong maduk...pas round² kat selat johor...kitaorg gerak gi kat satu kedai kat gelang patah...maduk nyer idea...pergh..memang tak tahan bro..ader open karok...yg ader time tuh..aku, maduk, cho, kak lin and maya...nih first time kenal maya...mamng aku bole ber duet plak karok ngan dia...selamba bapak bedal lagu duet yg kitaorg tak tau..memang hancur siut lagu tuh..hehehe...sesi karok berlanujutan sampai kul 2 pagi..balik n terus tido.

Ahad aku bangun agak awal laa...nak basuh baju sume...pastu aku n wan amir..bantai gi kedai dvd..beli 2 dvd..memang dvd marathon laa kitaorg ari tuh...malam plak...aku ader first date aku ngan surya...bajet nak gi makan kat mutaira rini..last2...di sebab kan jalan banjir..kita gi makan kat town jb..makan kat IT ROO...abis makan..ktorg gi makan kat bazar JB...siap tgk live band lagi..best siut suara mamat yg nyanyi tuh...kul 1130 aku dah kena anta surya lik...time tuh plak amir botak balik..dia kat 2nd link..aper lagi..mengeteh lagi laa aku..sambil tgk chelsea men...kul 1 pagi aku balik umah..terus tido...

Kisah nyer bermula beberapa minggu lepas..aku pan tak ingat biler...tapi yg aku ingat ari sabtu laa....tapi nih bukan ari sabtu yg biasa..ini me and my collegue akan naik keteapi dari stesen johor ke stesen kluang..semata2 utk sarapan pagi aja...macam2 berlaku sebenar nyer..aku bangun kul 650 pagi lepas kena gerak ngan amir...pastu syaza plak dah dok call2(ingat dia kena tiggal ngan kitaorg kut) padahal aku bangun lambat...amir cam besa laa..mencergaskan diri menjemput akak zahian(yan bukan nama sebenar) dan diaorg akan tunggu ktorg kat tol second link..pergh..ko tak tau amir punya tak sabar2..sampai rasa nak tinggal kan aku..aku plak bole salah masuk highway..patut masuk pontian link..aku pegi bantai masuk second link..memang lambat laa jawab nyer...pas bayar tol...terus pecut gi stesen...Ekin dah ader kat sana dah..tunggu kitaorg...zue plak bole bantai tinggal kan laki dia kat umah(zue kecian laki ko..dia nak ikut tuh). biler sumer dah sampai..aplagi kitaorg beli tiket..tour guide kitaorg ekin bagi ceramah dulu...sebelum kitaorg masuk kedalam tunggu keteapi.

Time tunggu kete api nih laa kalu korang nak tgk perangai sebenar ofismate aku...yg kalu dalam ofis diam..biler dah kat luar..fuh..giler dan havoc...pot pet sana pot pet sini,lompat sana..amir dengan lagak beliau mencabar peniup wisel line kuning...fik(3 malam) dgn muka alim dan warak nya, zue dan ekin jadi budak kecik balik...syaza and ima yg tah mana datang tenaga kuda diaorg..bole2 nak rilek..diaorg lagi ligat..teruk siut diaorg nih...dan pada kul 9 keteapi express rakyat yg di tunggu pon tiba..naik laa kami kedalam keteapi tu.

dalam keteapi cam biasa laaa..borak, amir and syaza memang kaki ronda..tah sampai ke cafe mana tah diaorg pegi aku pon tak tau....aku memang lepak setempat jer laaa..malas nak kuar berjalan sangat...

setelah 2 jam nek keteapi..sampai la ke destinasi yg dinantikan

Nih laa tempat yg dinantikan..tempat dimana lahir nya kopi fevret almarhum Sultan Johor bebaru nih. memang kopi dia memang terbaik laa...dia punya telor setengah masak pon the best gak...makan punya banyak hanya RM36..the best part is..fik(3 malam blanja kut)

Abis makan..kitaorg beli tiket nak balik ke JB..keteapi paling cepat pada kul 1 ptg..memang ader banyak time nak berjalan kat bandor..aper lagi merewang laa kitaorg..hehehehe..perghh...kluang mall dah sebijik cam komtar kat penang kut...cuma...kurang skit org laa.

Takde aper sangat laa yg kitaorg buat kat klaung mall nih..boring kut..ronda2..tetiba aku rasa akki aku berdarah..pastu sambung berjalan balik ke stesen keteapi..tunggu laa kiter di sana lagi...sesudah sampai ke JB..perut lapar balik kut..aper lagi..amir mencadangkan kiter makan di kedai haimui..bole tahan laa kedai dia..agak old skool..makan bole tahan laaa..dah makan..sume pon berpecah balik...kitaorg singgah tgk bundle kat danga bay...end up amir berkenan ngan kasut dia pakai skrang...bajet nak tgk pesta layang2 kat bandar dato'onn..tapi terlepas simpang punya pasal..kami meneruskan perjalanan ke Jusco tebrau...kat sini...tiket wayang citer CASE39 di beli..fuh..ko tak tgk laki2 yg tgk citer nih..sume penakut..pompuan jer yg mantain..sebelum berambus balik..sempat laa gak aku tangkap gambar ngan dewa kekayaan..dapat laa gula2 free..hehehehehe

huh...puteri habour...memang laa kedudukan nampak macam tercorok giler kat bahagian johor nih..actually it is quite a nice place laaa...bagi aku...first day aku datang sini..memang cam hell skit..blur kut...aper benda pon tak tau buat...nasib baik dak umah aku ok..fiq mula2 tuh aku ingat pendiam..tapi dosebalik muka innocent dia tuh..ader gak laa dia nyer nakal...amir plak...mula2cuak gak aku tgk mamat nih...lamer2 dah kenal ok laa..sebenar nyer dia nih banyak cakap..tapi serius time buat keje ker....ok laaa first week aku kat sini lokman dari subang datang melawat aku..tapi ngok gak mamat nih..sampai umah aku kul 5 pagi kut..buat penat jer laa aku berjaga..tgk wayang setiap minggu dah jagi 1 kepastian...man pon terikut skali kut....pastu gi makan kat kedai IT ROO kat jalan dhoby...pehhh chicken chop dia memang the best kut...sepanjang aku duk sini dah dua kali kut aku gi..mengidam nak makn benda yg sama...hahahaha...esok aku gi ofis bagitau bebudak ofis ayg aku gi makan kat jalan dhoby teerus diaorg gelak..cakap kat aku..aku gi cari bapok...baru laa aku tau..rupa nyer jalan dhoby tuh sebenar nyer jalan bapok..hahahaha(don't worry, won't go for bapok)....sepanjang aku idup laa...aku baru jumpa kerabat raja nih 3 kali...1st sultan kedah....ytg lagi 2 nih..aku jumpa kat ofis..agak kecuakkan gak laa..sbb 1 st time jumpasultan johor..mana tau kena hentak ngan kayu golf ker..hahahah...sori sultan..just kidding jer kut...4 hari pas sultan johor datang raja muda perak...raja muda nazrin plak datang...yg nih ok laa...takde laa tension atau cuak sangat....hurm..aper lagi aku nak cerita...hah..minggu lepas ari sabtu..aku jumpa faizal.....2hari lepas member unisel...eric affendy and ogy(bukan nama sebenar ek) haa time tuh..aku kuar ngan fiq n kak yg gi makan kat kedai jalan dhaby laa....pastu gi jejalan kat bazar jb...perhhh...memang nak kena gi sana balik..banyak kut jual beg backpacking murah²...tunggu laa gaji aku masuk..memang aku gi sana nyer...heheheheh...semalam plak...first time gi men futsal ngan dak ofis....men 6 laki 6 pompuan..kecoh kut men..tapi penat nak mampos...paling tak best..aku tertinggal baju singlet aku..aku baru pakai 2 kali jer kut....aper2 hal...life kat puteri habour nih best laa...even keje banyak cam haram...tapi ok laaa....ader dak² kepala gila nih bole survive kut..hahahahha

k laa roger n out...esok nak kena anta dak² skolah gi swimming and lusa plak..aku nak kena anta consultant n tinggalkan dia org kat tengah laut...

2010 dah datang dah....tempat baru dan hidup baru
malas laaa aku nak cite pasal 2009...banyak suka duka
susah aku nak explain kat sini..banyak kut pengalaman aku dapat dalam tahun 2009
ader cam sial...ader yg so-so dan ader gak yg best.

Yang Best Tahun 2009
tahun nih aku banyak dapat pengalaman kut...tahun nih gak laa aku dapat tamat kan aku nyer pengajaran di Unisel neraka jahanan tu...perghh..ko tak tau camner seksa nyer...konvo time bulan 11...aku grad ngan second class upper gah..hehehehe...hurm aper lagi ek...rakan² seperjuangan kat UNisel dan Taman Sinaran..macha mabuk sebelah umah aku..korang memang sporting...umah sewa ku yg di rindui i...drum set and gitar letrik aul..internet kekah ngan dak umah depan yg bawak kable sendri...Futsal di Tg Karang dan Kuala selangor.....mandi air terjun ngan dak umah, umah depan n *** lagi..pergh..best siut...gi mandi kolam air panas kat perak kul 2 pagi sampai 8 pagi dari unisel ngan dak umah mior...buat band ngan syafiq, biggie, nazi and ude...gi men baseball ngan fiq, sub, magnus, ash..klaka kut time tuh...uih..kalu aku nak citer memang panjang siut.

Yang so-So tahun 2009
Biasa laa...balik umah makan, men drum, jamming, gi klas and tido...aktiviti rutin harian aku kut...sabtu ahad kat subang...balik2 lepak hassan n desa..kalu time u plak...balik2 sharp kul 12 jer dah terpacak depan alip..hehhehehe...borak2..kul 3 pagi gak baru balik

Yang Macam tak Best 2009
hurm nih..kalu nak citer..kang ader yg kena bayoor balik Pc dell nih..hahaha...tahun nih aku berpisah ngan ira...pastu aku ader kenal this one gurl...memang aku suka and cinta ngan dia..tapi dia nih plak..macam2 prob...cam takde komitmen langsung...i have try all my best to please her...tapi respond..cam takde..pastu mengatai ngan laki lain..mana aku tak marah..pastu cakap aku tak paham dia...yg paling best kut..." i want to be alone, that my decision" tup² dah in relation ngan mamat tuh..tak sampai sebulan kut...cik ehem²..lu memang hebat...aper² pon...seperti yg di msgkan sebelum nih...takyah laa nak ajak aku time ko kawin..sbb aku pon dah tak nak tau pasal ko...org bagitau aper pasal ko pon aku dah tak nak amik port....buhbye B!#^h...gi mampos sama lu....and 1 lagi yg agak sedih bagiku tuk tahun nih adalah pemergian arwah opah ku pada 21/12/2009 mpada pukul 10 pagi..alfatiha kepada beliau.

Tu jer laa aper yg berlaku kat diri aku sepanjang tahun 2009...harap pada tahun 2010 nih membuka peluang kat diri aku lagi skali

sebagai permulaan tahun 2010 nih...aku skrang dah tak menetap kat Subang jaya lagi..skrang nih aku dah menetap kata taman Nusantara dekat ngan Nusajaya, Johor.....arini...7/1/2010 ari memang buat aku cuak...first time kut aku melayan Sultan Johor datang kat tempat keje aku...dia pon satu...datang tetiba..mana org nak ready....memang laa kena marah ngan Tengku Puteri...hurm takpe laa..benda dah lepas pon...amik sebagai ikhtibar...minggu depan ari senin...Raja Muda Perak, Raja Nazrin plak yg nak datang melawat tempat keje aku nih...huh..bole ker tak aku follow protocol istiadat diraja nih...takpe laa..aper² pon sume benda kena try dulu..kalu tak macam mana nak tau result nyer...tapi aper²...membawak diri kat johor nih betul² 1 pilihan yg bijak bagi aku...memang aku dapat melupakan sume masalah yg aku hadapi tahun 2009....hurm...bulan depan memang aku nak balik Kl...nak kena jumpa ngan cik H**** rindu dah kut ngan dia..baju dia nih..dah lamer sangat dalam kete aku..nak kena pulang kan balik
