Worrisome economic approached by CHINA

On May 11, China's stock market slipped into official bear market territory so quietly you'd think it was no big deal. The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.9%, putting it down 21% from its Nov. 23 high.
What's next? Predictions fall into two diametrically opposed camps.
More on the People's Bank of China

There are the China bulls, like old China hand Mark Mobius of Templeton Asset Management, who see the bear market as a buying opportunity. Stocks in the Shanghai index now trade at 20.2 times the trailing 12-month earnings. That's cheap compared with a 49.5 price-to-earnings ratio for the market at the October 2007 high.

And there are the China bears such as GloomBoomDoom.com Publisher Marc Faber, hedge fund manager and short-seller Jim Chanos and Harvard economist Ken Rogoff, who are all expecting China to crash in the next six to 18 months.

Why the extremes of opinion?
Because China is trying to execute a maneuver that almost no country or central bank ever gets right. Beijing is trying to:
* Slow its economy, which grew at an annual rate of 11.9% in the first quarter of 2010.
* Control inflation, which grew at a 2.8% annual rate in April and threatens to run out of control.
* Deflate a bubble in assets such as real estate, which saw prices grow at a record 12.8% annualized rate in April.
All of that without crashing its economy or its financial markets.
The Federal Reserve hasn't been able to pull off this kind of move. The European Central Bank doesn't even try. So why, the bears ask, with good reason, should we think that China can?
 
Because, say the bulls, China is different. Its state-controlled economy gives the government and the People's Bank of China vastly more control than any government or central bank has in the more-free-market economies of the developed world. And that will let the government thread the narrow path between slowdown and bust.


My opinion? It's not only too early to tell whether Beijing can deflate its bubble without crashing China's economy, but we're only just entering the really, really dangerous period when Beijing could actually make a mistake big enough to cause a crash. A crash in China's controlled economy and financial markets wouldn't be anything like a crash in the United States, of course. A company or an entire industry in China is bankrupt only when the government says it's bankrupt. But even a controlled China-style crash would be very painful for investors.

I think the trend in China's stock markets is still downward, even if the bulls prove ultimately correct, as the Chinese government tries another round of fixes. In my opinion, investors will get a buying opportunity in China this year at prices below current levels, even if China doesn't crash (whatever "crash" means in the Chinese financial system). I'm advising building some cash so you'll be ready to take advantage of that opportunity but keeping that pot of China cash on the sidelines until you see how the story comes out over the next few months.

Hitting the brakes -- and failing


Here's what we know about this bear market so far:
The story to date is pretty straightforward. Chinese financial markets and China's economy have been bending gradually under pressure as the Beijing government tries to fight inflation and slow real-estate and stock market speculation without tanking the market or the economy. The steps to date have been frequent but small. For example, the People's Bank has raised reserve requirements three times this year, most recently May 3. Banks in China are now required to keep on reserve cash equal to 17% of their loans.

Add to that restrictions on second and third mortgages, limits on how many houses a family can buy, warnings to banks about uncollateralized loans, lower lending quotas and higher yields on money banks leave on deposit with the central bank and you've got an impressive series of measured steps to slow lending, speculation and the economy.

Trouble is, these measured steps don't look like they've had much effect. China's rate of increase in real-estate prices in April was its highest on record. Overseas money continues to flood into China as investors and speculators bet on continued fast growth in the Chinese economy and a revaluation of the renminbi. Foreign direct investment rose in April for the ninth month in a row at a 25% annual rate. Bank lending slowed, but banks still extended $110 billion in new loans in April. That, if continued, would put bank lending on a path to $1.3 trillion for 2010. That's disappointingly close to the record $1.4 trillion in new loans in 2009 that the government had vowed to reduce. - Jim Jubak worrisome

As broke college grads both my girlfriend and I live with our parents. It's about 10pm, we're hanging out together on the futon in her mom's basement watching whichever movie on tv. As usual we don't get through even the first ten minutes of the movie before we start making out and getting frisky. We've since told everyone that we'll take care of the tank lights.

These couple of week here in puteri harbour starting to give impact to me...i need to perform if i want to be permanent here....Puteri Harbour is not such a bad place.. it just because of the work stress and low self esteem make them lose faith working here...as for me...wherever you go..work is all the same...that all for my work.

bebaru nih aku tgk berita...Barisan Nasional menang cawangan Hulu langat...memang dalam hati aku..memang confirm nyer BN menang...Tgk laa aper masalah BA skrang...tak putus2 ngan masalah...dalam parlimen gado sana sini..dah rasa cam org bodo plak...patut dalam parlimen bentang idea...tak perlu laa nak ungkit kisah lama..rakyat pilih wakil rakyat masing dengan harapan untuk diaorg membela kiter balik biler kiter susah..bukan utk mendapat nama aatau bergadoh kat dalam parlimen..rasa cam budak kecik plak aku tgk..hahahahaha...style aku pilih parti memang senang...kalu aku rasa wakil rakyat tu bole buat keje..confirm aku pilih dia...terus terang...masa aku kat subang dulu(time BN pegang lagi) aku rasa cam susah giler laa nak jumpa wakil rakyat situ...ofis ader..tapi org takde..tapi skrang Hannah Yeoh jadi wakil rakyat subang...dapat rasa beza giler kut...konsisten tuh ader laa...slalu laa nampak dia kalu taman aku ader buat aper2 aktiviti..bagus laa dapat wakil camtuh.....nih aku baca paper...skolah cina dapat sumbangan..bagi aku bagus laaa..tapi jangan sbb ader pilihanraya  jer..pas pilihanraya senyap jer...tak elok laa camtuh...aku rasa rancangan aduan rakyat lagi bagus..sbb diorg dengar cakap rakyat n papar kan pada public..time tu laa baru laa org berkenaan sibuk cakap akan amik tindakan laa...aku dapat rasa sebelum tuh mesti dah ader org complain..tapi tutup sebelah mata jer...nih kekadang biler kiter buat aduan..tah di beri perhatian ker tak...sekian

bagi aku kiter patut pilih sesorng bole jadi pemimpin. pemimpin yg betul2 prihatin terhadap rakyat tanpa diskriminasi...terima kasih

Malam² indah dan memenatkan

Friday nite

Org yg aku rasa cam susah sangat nak rapat...bole jadi rapat ngan tetiba..kalu tgk dari segi rupa..memang org akan cakap dia sombong..tapi benda yg berlaku adalah sebalik nyer...malam jumaat..aku dapat request dari pokok utk mencari something..aper lagi merayau laa aku...tapi ditemani maduk dan lan..lan memang tau banyak port baek kat JB...memang aku dah hafal jalan laa...pasni aku gi cari sendri...jejalan kat pasal segget..sampai kul 3 pagi...siap kena kaco ngan bapok lagi..kalu cun takpe la gak..nih muka abis pecah umah kut...hehehehehe

Saturday Nite

ari sabtu bermula ngan tak best nyer..umah aku blackout plak pagi tuh..pergh..tak ley blah langsung...aper lagi, aku mulakan langkah ngan gi ke klas drum aku...memang aku blaja samapi kul 4 laaa jawab nyer...balik ke gelang patah..kurt dah sampai dah kat E&Y..melepak sambil mengeteh...balik umah..aku n kurt memulakan laa sesi jamming kitaorg...sampai kul 8 gak laa kiter jam..tuka² blaja lagu baru...pastu gi makan kat mutiara rini..kedai cina islam..bole tahan laa banyak dia bagi..nih sume idea kurt..bedal laa aper lagi...pas makan..kitaorg gerak balik ofis aku..kurt nak tgk live band...huh..bukan stakat live band jer...aku siap bawak dia jejalan lagi nek boat...skali lagi mintak tolong maduk...pas round² kat selat johor...kitaorg gerak gi kat satu kedai kat gelang patah...maduk nyer idea...pergh..memang tak tahan bro..ader open karok...yg ader time tuh..aku, maduk, cho, kak lin and maya...nih first time kenal maya...mamng aku bole ber duet plak karok ngan dia...selamba bapak bedal lagu duet yg kitaorg tak tau..memang hancur siut lagu tuh..hehehe...sesi karok berlanujutan sampai kul 2 pagi..balik n terus tido.

Sunday Nite

Ahad aku bangun agak awal laa...nak basuh baju sume...pastu aku n wan amir..bantai gi kedai dvd..beli 2 dvd..memang dvd marathon laa kitaorg ari tuh...malam plak...aku ader first date aku ngan surya...bajet nak gi makan kat mutaira rini..last2...di sebab kan jalan banjir..kita gi makan kat town jb..makan kat IT ROO...abis makan..ktorg gi makan kat bazar JB...siap tgk live band lagi..best siut suara mamat yg nyanyi tuh...kul 1130 aku dah kena anta surya lik...time tuh plak amir botak balik..dia kat 2nd link..aper lagi..mengeteh lagi laa aku..sambil tgk chelsea men...kul 1 pagi aku balik umah..terus tido...

Conclusion

Aku skarng nih tgh ngantuk giler sbb tak cukup tido...tak sabar nyer nak balik umah utk tido...sekian..terima kasih

Kekelongan

Ini laa rupa kelong...tengah2 laut..yg takde aper²...tapi yg bagus nyer...coverage still ader lagi...tapi sakit skit laa kalu nak gi kedai beli okok....

ok..citer dia bermula bile En Shah dari Marina nak gi ke kelong nih..tujuan utk buat site visit..tapi wat happen is..dia ajak sume dak ofis skali...saper yg berminat bole laa pegi kata nyer..bayar tak mahal..10 hinggit jer...aktiviti yg di sediakan adalah...karok sampai lebam(amir nyanyi sampai kul 6 pagi kut) memancing ikan (lawan tgk saper dapat ikan besar) dan barbeque(ikan dari laut terus ke grill) baik nyer fresh...

kalu first time tengok kelong nih...ko mesti bajet tempat dia tak best n buruk..padahal..best kut..silalah lihat
